NEFFA 2009 Performer Application Procedure
To NEFFA Performers and Friends:
The NEFFA Program Committee invites you to propose an event for the
65th annual New England Folk Festival, which will be held from Friday April
24th, through Sunday April 26th, 2009 at Mansfield (Massachusetts) High and
Middle Schools.
In addition, please:
-
READ ALL of this letter carefully!!
-
We receive applications for more events than we have space for at the
Festival. While we try to include as many different performers as possible,
your event will have a better chance of being scheduled if it is participatory
in nature, tradition-based, and intended for the general public.
-
We seek events run by people who have excellent performance, teaching and/or leadership
skills, and who approach their material with a positive, inclusive attitude.
Particularly for dance events, we prefer to use live music whenever possible.
-
NEFFA is an all-volunteer festival. No performer is paid for
participating. However, each performer will receive an all-session
pass to the Festival. ONLY performers receive these passes
(not family members, friends, coaches, etc.)
-
The Program Committee only accepts electronically submitted applications. If this is not possible for you, contact Linda Leslie (at laleslierjg (atsign) comcast (dot) net or 508-999-2486).
How to Apply
TWO FORMS are required. The Contact Data Sheet is required in order to provide us with general
information about individuals and groups who perform at NEFFA; this information
may be published on the NEFFA web site
and is maintained year-round. Therefore, accurate information is very important.
The Event Application is intended to provide information
specific to this year's Festival and events.
FIRST FORM: Contact Data Sheet
- Please submit one Contact Data Sheet for EACH
group or individual
performer for whom you are the contact.
- Please fill in/review all the information on the form: specific
contact information for you, general booking information for yourself or your
group, and the list of PERMANENT members of your group.
- Make sure that ALL PERMANENT members of
your group are listed
at the bottom of this form. Check your webpage at the NEFFA site
first! You have the option of just
letting us know about changes, rather than listing all the names.
- If there is any information on this form that you do not want published
either on the NEFFA web site or in the program booklet, please indicate this on the form.
-
If you can't participate this year, but you want us to keep your name on
the mailing list, please return this form anyway. If we don't hear from you for three consecutive years, you may be dropped from the mailing list.
If you do NOT want
to receive applications in the future, let us know.
SECOND FORM: Event Application
Please fill out one Event Application for EACH
event proposal. Instructions
are on the web form.
Festival Orchestra
All musicians are welcome to play in one of the many open orchestras
playing Contra Dance music (Festival Orchestras).
If you wish to join in on one or more of these sessions, you should NOT
fill out an application. Simply sign up at the Performer Check-in table
in the entrance lobby at the Festival, and receive a performer ticket
for the weekend.
If you wish to be a lead player (fiddler, piano player, or conductor)
in a Festival Orchestra,
please fill out a separate application and indicate in the Event Title
space, "Festival Orchestra" followed by the lead position you'd like.
Additional Information
Feel free to contact me or any of the program
committee members with questions, ideas, or comments.
During the month of December, we will let you know whether you
have been selected and send you a preliminary draft of the schedule.
Please do not ask about programming decisions from the Committee before December!
Application Deadline: Midnight (ET) October 3rd, 2008.
We are looking forward to another wonderful Festival and hope you will a
part of it.
