Couple Dancing in the Round
Middle School Auditorium Stage -- 9:00pm to 9:50pm Friday April 19 TS (Teaching featured, Some experience helpful)
[Show on Grid]
In the 19th century, "round dances" were ballroom dances for individual couples, danced during an evening that also included quadrilles, contras, and other country dances. Starting with Henry Ford and "Pappy" Shaw, Round Dancing was revived in the 20th century, but took off in new directions. Today, they are choreographed couple dances, danced in a circle. During this session, several round dances will be taught, introducing round dance steps and vocabulary, including some that can be added to your general dancing, with an emphasis on partnering. Come to this session to try some of these "new" round dances. Waltz will definitely be included!
