NEFFA 2018 Performer Application Procedure
To NEFFA Performers and Friends:
The NEFFA Program Committee invites you to propose an event for the
74th annual New England Folk Festival, which will be held from Friday April
20th, through Sunday April 22nd, 2018 at Mansfield (Massachusetts) High and
|DEADLINE 11:59pm OCTOBER 3rd!|
In addition, please:
READ ALL of this letter carefully!!
We receive applications for more events than we have space for at the
Festival. While we try to include as many different performers as possible,
your event will have a better chance of being scheduled if it is participatory
in nature, tradition-based, intended for the general public, and you are very flexible about when you are willing to perform.
We seek events run by people who have excellent performance, teaching and/or leadership
skills, and who approach their material with a positive, inclusive attitude.
Particularly for dance events, we prefer to use live music whenever possible.
NEFFA is an all-volunteer festival. No performer is paid for
participating. However, each performer will receive an all-session
pass to the Festival. ONLY performers receive these passes
(not family members, friends, coaches, etc.)
The Program Committee only accepts electronically submitted applications. If this is not possible for you, contact Linda Leslie (laleslierjg (atsign) comcast (dot) net, 774-263-0620) or Jon Cannon
(jon.loves.neffa (atsign) gmail (dot) com, 314-749-6902).

--- Note for "Festival Orchestra" participants ---
Most musicians are welcome to play in one of the many open "Festival Orchestras" playing Contra Dance music. Exceptions include: drummers, bones players, other percussionists and those with electronic amps. If you wish to join in on one or more of these sessions, you should NOT fill out an application. Simply sign up at the Performer Check-in table in the entrance lobby at the Festival, and receive a performer ticket for the weekend. If you wish to be a lead player (fiddler, piano player, or conductor) in a Festival Orchestra, please fill out a separate application and indicate in the Event Title space, "Festival Orchestra" followed by the lead position for which you would like to be considered.
Feel free to contact me or any of the program
committee members with questions, ideas, or comments.
During the month of December, we will let you know whether you
have been selected and send you a preliminary draft of the schedule.
Please do not ask about programming decisions from the Committee before December!
Application Deadline: 11:59pm (ET) October 3rd, 2017.
We are looking forward to another wonderful Festival and hope you will be a
